# Tap to Reveal: Pace Your Recall

Use Tap to Reveal to drip-feed a passage by phrase, sentence, or word, then pair it with first letter and Type it.

Game Guide3 min

Tap to Reveal lets you **read the passage at your speed**. Each tap exposes the next phrase, sentence, or word so you can rehearse flow, timing, and nerves without guessing.

## Quick start (2 minutes)

1. Open your Memorization and choose **Tap to Reveal**.
2. Pick a short section (1–3 sentences). Tap anywhere in the text area to reveal the next chunk.
3. After every reveal, **say the line aloud** without looking back. The speaking step turns recognition into recall.

## Settings that change the feel

- **Phrases vs Sentences vs Words:** Start with _Phrases_ to keep momentum. Use _Sentences_ when you want full thoughts split on periods. Switch to _Words_ when you need precision on tricky clauses or names.
- **Reverse vs Normal:** Use _Reverse_ for backward chaining—ending sections become your strongest, which smooths stage finishes.
- **Text-to-speech toggle:** Turn on the speaker icon when you want a guided pace (walking, commuting). Keep it off when testing yourself so silence reveals hesitations.
- **Restart + arrows:** If you drift, hit **Restart**; use the back arrow to replay a line that felt weak instead of powering past it.

## A pacing routine for any passage

1. **Flow pass:** Run _Phrases_ in **Normal** order. Tap and speak each phrase to check cadence.
2. **Thought pass:** Switch to _Sentences_ to rehearse one complete idea at a time before the next reveal.
3. **Precision pass:** Switch to _Words_ and run the same section. If a word surprises you, replay that group once, then move on.
4. **Reverse pass:** Flip to **Reverse** and tap through phrases or sentences. This locks the ending and prevents the “strong start, shaky finish” problem.
5. **Exit with creation:** Do one **Type it** run for the section you just practiced. If you miss more than three words, repeat the reverse pass once.

## Pair Tap to Reveal with other games

- **Learning a new chunk:** Tap to Reveal (phrases) → Tap to Reveal (sentences) → Tap to Reveal (words) -> First Letter → Type it.
- **Stitching transitions:** Set blank lines between paragraphs in your Memorization so phrases line up with transitions. Run Tap to Reveal on the boundary only, then Type it that boundary.
- **Performance warm-up:** Reverse Tap to Reveal once, then say the whole piece without looking. If clean, you’re stage-ready; if not, drop back to a precision pass.

## Troubleshooting

- **Tapping too fast?** Count “one beat, tap” between reveals. The pause forces mental reconstruction instead of coasting.
- **Losing place mid-paragraph?** Add micro line breaks in the editor so “Phrases” mode creates natural breathing points.
- **Mumbling through reveals?** Turn on text-to-speech for one pass to hear pacing, then mirror it aloud with the audio off.
- **Still shaky on names or numbers?** Switch to Words, tap slowly, and pin each critical term with a quick image before you reveal the next group.

Use Tap to Reveal whenever flow feels wobbly. Two clean forward passes plus one reverse pass is usually enough to make the pacing feel automatic.
