First Letter is the fastest order check in Memorize By Heart. Each input box wants only the first letter of every word. Use it to make sure you know the flow, proper nouns, and punctuation in context before you move to Type it.
Quick start (2 minutes)
- Open your Memorization and choose First Letter.
- Tap the text area to focus the first box, then type the initial for each word in order. If you mistype, your device vibrates and the wrong box turns red.
- Tap Show entire word off once you feel comfortable so only the initials remain visible.
- Finish a pass to see your accuracy and keep advancing through the steps.
How the three steps work
- Mimic: Every word and initial is visible. Glide through to learn the rhythm and punctuation.
- Memorize: Only every other initial shows; the hidden ones force you to recall the missing pieces without losing context.
- Master: All hints vanish except the input boxes. Run this twice; when you can fill it without red highlights, you are ready for Type it.
- Use the Restart button if a streak of errors appears—fresh focus beats fighting a messy line.
Settings that speed corrections
- Show entire word toggle: Leave it on for your first run so you can compare the typed initial to the full word. Turn it off for pure-initial practice.
- Haptic feedback: The quick vibration signals a mismatch; glance at the red box, then retype the letter with intention instead of powering past mistakes.
- Section control: Select one chunk of text before starting. Shorter sections make the Memorize and Master steps feel like quick sprints.
A reliable First Letter routine
- Warm up: Mimic one paragraph with Show entire word on. Aim for 100% to confirm spelling and punctuation.
- Pressure test: Toggle Show entire word off and run Memorize. Say each full word aloud while you type its initial; if you stall, peek once, then continue.
- Proof: Play Master twice. If you miss more than three letters, drop back to Memorize for one pass, then retry Master.
- Graduate: Finish with one Type it run for the same chunk. The initials work you just did makes full typing feel easy.
Pair First Letter with other games
- New material: Listen → First Letter (Mimic, Memorize, Master) → Type it.
- Performance polish: Tap to Reveal (phrases) → First Letter (Master) to confirm order → Speak.
- Detail rescue: Slider on a tricky line, then First Letter with Show entire word off to lock the exact wording.
Troubleshooting
- Stumbling on names or numbers? In Mimic, leave Show entire word on and say the whole word aloud when you type its initial. Add a quick visual image, then replay Memorize.
- Lost your place mid-line? Tap the text to refocus the correct box, hit Restart, and run shorter chunks until your accuracy climbs.
- Seeing red everywhere? Slow the input pace: type, pause half a beat, then move to the next box. The brief delay helps prevent accidental double letters.
- Still unsure before a test? Do one more Master pass, then speak the paragraph without looking at the screen. If you can say it cleanly, you are ready.
