Type It Game Guide: Prove Recall by Typing

Use Type It at Easy, Medium, or Hard to test every word, feel instant haptic feedback on mistakes, and review accuracy before you move on.

Game Guide4 min

Type It is the full proof that your passage sticks. Easy checks the first letter of each word, Medium gives a first-letter hint while you type the full word, and Hard asks for every full word with no hints. A wrong entry vibrates the device and marks that word in review, so you know exactly where to fix before you move to Speak.

Quick start (2 minutes)

  1. Open your Memorization and choose Type It.
  2. Choose a level: Easy for first letters, Medium for full words with first-letter hints, or Hard for full words without hints.
  3. Tap anywhere in the text area to focus the hidden cursor. On Medium and Hard, press Space after each full word.
  4. Watch the progress bar move as you advance. If the device vibrates, you mistyped—retap and continue.
  5. Finish the passage to see accuracy and a review of every word you touched.

What Type It measures

  • Difficulty-matched accuracy: Easy compares the initial you type with each word. Medium and Hard compare the complete word; punctuation is ignored.
  • Visible streak: Once you type a word, it appears in the flow. Mistakes show in red with an underline so you can spot problem spots on the fly.
  • Instant feedback: Wrong letters or words trigger haptic feedback for 200ms; keep typing to move forward or retap if you lost focus.
  • End-of-pass review: The Stats page shows your percent correct plus the passage with misses underlined. Use the back arrow to rerun the same chunk immediately.

A tight Type It routine

  1. Prime on a paragraph: Select a short section (1–3 sentences). Run one slow pass for clean accuracy and to learn how the cursor moves.
  2. Hold 95%+: Do a second pass at normal pace. Aim for minimal vibration; if you get more than three red underlines, rerun the paragraph once more.
  3. Stretch to the next line: Add the following sentence and repeat. Gradually chain paragraphs until you clear the entire Memorization without underlines.
  4. Lock pace: Finish with one pass at your speaking tempo. If accuracy drops, shorten the chunk and rebuild speed.

Habits that keep you accurate

  • Tap to refocus: If the keyboard closes or you switch apps, tap the text area to bring the hidden cursor back before typing.
  • Use haptics as a brake: Each buzz is a cue to slow down for the next few words and re-enunciate them in your head.
  • Chunk smartly: Smaller sections give you faster feedback cycles and better accuracy; expand only after two clean passes in a row.
  • Check the review: Scan the underlined words on the Stats page, then replay that line immediately. It keeps fixes local instead of restarting the whole passage.

Pair Type It with other games

  • Order boot camp: Tap to Reveal → First Letter → Type It to confirm you can type what you hear.
  • Detail cleanup: Tap to Reveal on tough phrases, then Type It to ensure the letters trigger the full line.
  • Speaking prep: Slider to lower visibility, then Type It, then Speak to rehearse aloud with confidence.

Troubleshooting

  • The cursor stopped moving: Tap the text area to refocus, then retype the current letter or word; the caret should reappear.
  • Frequent vibrations on one name or number: Say the full word quietly before typing it. Repeat that line twice, then continue.
  • Accuracy stuck below 80%: Drop to a smaller chunk and slow your typing pace. Two clean runs at 95%+ beat one shaky pass of the whole passage.
  • Mixed punctuation trips you up: Ignore commas and quotes. Type It checks letters and words rather than punctuation.
